I made this when I felt like I was trying really hard, or maybe too hard, to feel brave. The sketches on the walls, ideating what bravery is, indicate the effort of trying to figure out what bravery is.
"용기" is a Korean term for bravery, which is the main sculpture theme in this studio. All the 용기 sculptures have different shapes, and the ones that are made in the past are in the dark basement, which I wanted to highlight the obsession and unkindness towards self.
On the contrary, the window that lets the yellow light to light up the studio space has a message underneath from my loved ones: "Let more lights in." This window fills the concrete wall that the loved one broke down, and the window has a yellow hue with a shape of the Sun. I wanted to highlight the compassion and support others show in the times when I was lacking self-compassion.
